Kuruzovic tweeted that he was awakened when a woman believed to be Curran's boyfriend found his body and began to scream, he had found him dead about 10 times. He said police arrived and checked the security camera footage, where they saw a man hiding his face as he moved through the apartment building.
"I honestly heard people coming home late at night (Tuesday), around 3:30 a.m. The banging door closed. But there are many tourists on my block and they often buzz or are on the edge of the pool because of the time zone, but now I wonder if I hear anything more, "his tweet continued.
Mellon Educate, an African development charity based in Ireland, has confirmed that Curran was found dead. The police said they were investigating a murder case.
Curran has just completed a two-year contract with the group and is on vacation in Cape Town for several weeks. Irish media reported that he was set to return to Dublin in a few days. Curran's phone is the only item stolen from the apartment.
"I know that many of our volunteers and supporters will be very sad to hear this tragic news," said Niall Mellon, chief executive of Mellon Educate.
Police spokesman Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said Curran had been found "in a pool of blood. The victim had opened a wound on his head and face".
Detectives are following up on possible instructions.
Every year, Mellon Educates brings volunteers from all over the world to Africa to build educational infrastructure in poor communities. Until now, the charity has built 16 new schools and renovated more.
