Russian winger may need a new contract with the Canucks – and the team should want him back – but apparently reported his jumping to the CHL premature
Nikolai Goldobin said that three weeks ago he wants to return to Vancouver for the season 2019-20.
And despite speculation in the Russian hockey media that he could be set to join CSKA Moscow KHL, it seems that is still his target.
650 on SportsNet Rick Dhaliwal, a new agent Goldobin Sergei Isakov said that the Russian winger has no other to come back next season, the Canucks plans.
Of course, to return next fall Vancouver Goldobin will need a new contract; his entry-level deal passed this spring, and the Canucks can do it restricted free agent, simply by making him a qualifying offer.
Jim Benning told Postmedia Monday that the Canucks were still to make a decision about his plans Goldobin, who scored seven goals and added 20 assists in 63 games this season.
"We are hockey OPS meeting this week and will have a better idea of Gold at the end of the week," he said in a text message.
Goldobin will also need the support of head coach Travis Green, who spoke earnestly and repeatedly during the second half of the season that he would like to see: faster player who does more than just make drastic decisions with the puck in the offensive zone.
He would like to see a player, he had full faith in the game on a scoring line, the one who makes the suras & # 39; serious work on the washer and pack battles on top of clear offensive abilities.
Goldobin said he well understood April 9 that his coach wants from him, as he wanted to & # 39 will be going into training camp in September.
Faster player. Faster player. Player installer.
"I hope I get another chance to play here," he said.
Speculation has increased over the future Goldobin over the weekend, as well as the estimated Russian hockey reporter Igor Eronko said Friday that Goldobin can be in the famous red and blue CSKA, historically known in English Central Red Army.
In his tweet in Russian he added Eronko «seen», along with his report Goldobin ditches NHL, questioning the forward that his sources told him.
It does not seem that his source was a new agent Goldobin, which works in the Newport Sports Management, Agency Power hockey headed by super-agent Don Meehan.
Until then, until we learned Monday morning that Goldobin was a new agent, he was with Igor Larionov, the former USSR, the Canucks and Red Wings star, which is also in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Former Canucks assistant general manager Laurence Gilman, now in the same container with foliage, once called Michael and Newport Sports «Deal-maker."
"When push comes to shove, they're trying to get a deal done," he told TSN 1040 2017, discussing why B Horvath could chose Newport as his imagination is going to negotiate a contract extension with the Canucks.
"They understand the value of their customers and where the market is," he added.
Just Goldobin think about it when you change agents? It's not like Larionov and his Will Sports Group does not have a good stable of clients (including Canuck Josh Leyva).
Nevertheless, Newport has a solid history of delivering transactions to their customers, among them Croatian. And not so long ago, for Chris Tanev.
Tanev was with Vancouver agent Ross Gurney for a year, when he jumped on board the super-ship in Meehan. He took very good increase of summer 2015.
Goldobin may also look at the contract Blueliner Gadbranson Eric landed a year ago, three years on the deal surprised some, given Gudbranson fight already faced in his first two seasons in Vancouver.
Whatever the motives, his intention seems to remain clear.
