OPP restore the human body from the lake to the south of Ottawa



Ontario Provincial Police divers found the body of a man in Mississippi Lake just over 24 hours after receiving a call about a vehicle that went through the ice.

Police said in a press release he was 31-year-old man with Drummond North Elmsley Township, communities in this area.

His name was not released.

At approximately 3:45 am on Sunday, OPP responded to a report that a vehicle had crashed through the ice on the lake of the Mississippi, south of Carleton Place, Ont.

When officers arrived, they found partially submerged in water, all-terrain vehicle with its lights on.

three passengers in the ATV was able to escape with minor injuries, police said.

When looking for ATV passengers, police found another vehicle completely submerged Volkswagen sedan, which was the subject of the initial call.

Man inside a submerged car was taken to hospital for treatment of hypothermia.

It was believed the passenger in the car died.

Police are still investigating.
