The researchers concluded that the observations of this study can be used to help develop new ways to prevent mosquitoes carry diseases.
A study recently published in the journal Acta Tropic mosquitoes feeding and breeding habits found that insects are less likely to have or lose when the song «Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites» on Skrillex plays. A specific type of mosquito Aedes aegypti were investigated, also referred to as the yellow fever mosquito is known to carry a variety of diseases.
Before detailing the experiment, the researchers noted that it is known that electronic music – and, more specifically, the low-frequency oscillations of the single patch with Skrillex, – to break the marital habits of insects. They found that the noise makes it more difficult for them to receive signals from the hosts.
For the experiment, the researchers created a "music-on" and "music-off" environment, in which they studied the Aedes aegypti and have come to some conclusions.
Mosquitoes in the musical environment to eat less often provided by the owner and is less likely to lose than mosquitoes in the music from the environment. Researchers believe that these data can be used to help develop new ways to control Aedes carry diseases.
