MMA Clothing announces the Asian eSports championship – Tech News

One Championship mixed martial arts outfit on November 7 announced the launch of the eSports tournament next year in a business worth up to US $ 50 million (RM208.15 billion), as it strives to enter the profitable world of video games.

The "One eSports" initiative will see a number of events held in Asia along with the MMA program announced earlier, said the Singapore-based World Championship.

That doesn't say how many eSports events will occur or where. The company will stage 30 MMA events in 2019 in cities including Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing and Tokyo.

"We see a natural crossover between martial arts and game fans in Asia and the opportunity to unite them," said Chatri Sityodtong, chairman and chief executive of the One Championship.

One eSports is a joint venture between One Championship and Japanese advertising agency Dentsu. The Razer game company will also work on this initiative.

One Championship said that they planned to invest up to US $ 50 million with other partners in the business.

ESports is played and watched by millions of people around the world and the competition has gained mainstream acceptance.

Tournaments of various styles of video games are increasingly popular, with shooting, strategy, and struggle for multiplayer teams that develop into the main arena.

Asia has led the boom, with China being the largest gaming market in the world.

In mixed martial arts, the One Championship faces competition from the Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship, which has begun holding events in Asia. – AFP Relaxnews
