AirAsia delayed daily services to New Zealand which affected hundreds of Kiwis | 1 NOW NEWS


AirAsia has announced that it will stop daily services from and to Auckland starting February 11, 2019.

Airlines based in Malaysia will also consolidate their capacity on routes from 7 times a week to 4 times a week from January 29, 2019.

AirAsia will continue to maintain the current schedule of services 7 times a week to the Gold Coast, Australia.

Suspension will affect hundreds of Kiwi tourists, but people affected by suspension will be offered the following options:

1. Move flights: Change to the date of the new trip on the same route before the suspension of the route on 11 February 2019, including the ability to break through flights to allow connections to / from AKL during reduced schedules, without additional costs and depending on seat availability; OR

2. Reroute: Change the route to the other destination AirAsia X Malaysia Melbourne Avalon (AVV) or Sydney (SYD) only, within 30 calendar days of the original travel date at no additional cost and depending on the availability of seats. If the reroute is received, flights to Auckland (AKL) will not be provided by AirAsia.

3. Credit account: Maintain the value of your order in the Credit Account linked to your BIG member account as provided by guests for future trips with AirAsia. A valid BIG member account is mandatory for the Credit Account option and can be exchanged within 90 calendar days from the date of issue; OR

4. Full refund: Get a full refund in an amount equivalent to the original order.

Registered tourists will be notified by email, SMS or outgoing call based on the contact details provided in the original order.

For bookings made through travel agents or third parties, AirAsia recommends contacting your travel agent immediately.
