In the New Caledonian Sunday, tens of thousands of voters voted in the referendum on the island's independence in France.
According to BBC Radio, polls show that most voters reject independence and support as part of France, and notes that 175,000 people will vote in the referendum.
French President Emmanuel Macaron visited the island some months ago to support France's support.
The new Caledonia lies more than 16,000 kilometers from Paris, in a fragile economic zone, despite its nickel reserves, 270,000, 40% for Canadians and 27% for Europeans.
