Android and iOS have managed to become the two leading mobile platforms on the market. While Android’s ecosystem is open, and moving from one brand to another is an easy task, iOS is more closed to Apple products and services.
While moving from one ecosystem to another isn’t overly complicated, sometimes small details prevent us from choosing an iPhone or letting an iPhone switch to any of the Android brands. WhatsApp is usually one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to transitioning, but it seems the app will put an end to that.
WhatsApp will facilitate the transition from Android to iOS and vice versa
WhatsApp backup calls are not entirely new and they have been available to everyone for years. However, they present a small drawback, which is that they are limited to working with a single operating system.
This means that if you use WhatsApp on Android and back up your chats, once you switch to another Android mobile, you can restore it, but if for some reason you decide to switch to iPhone, you have to start from scratch and lose your conversations.
The inconvenience is that in case you want to have a conversation, it limits your choice. WhatsApp seems to finally be aware of this and will work on a formal tool to migrate your data between any of the two major operating systems.
This was discovered by WABetaInfo with the following screenshot showing what WhatsApp is already working on this feature. Capture will be done from the iOS app to migrate your chats to Android, but in Android we will also have the ability to transfer chats to Android.
This feature is currently under development and cannot be activated, so it is still unavailable. As the months go by it should appear in beta and then in stable so we will be vigilant.
