March 19, chaired by Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Organizing Committee for Russia-Africa held its first meeting in Moscow. The organizing committee set up by presidential decree, was made responsible for the preparation and holding of the Russia-Africa Summit in October 2019 in Sochi.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry for Industry and Commerce, Administration of Krasnodar Region, Russian Export Center, Roscongress Fund and many others.
Participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the organizational preparations for the events of the Russia-Africa, as well as with the participation of African leaders and representatives of Russian and international business community, government agencies and authorities.
The meeting further discussed the main stages of preparation of the business program and the forthcoming meeting of African leaders and the Russian business community, through which Russia's cooperation with African countries will receive state and wide public support.
Russia-Africa summit, expected to take part about 3000 African entrepreneurs, according to the official report of the meeting.
Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, reports on the preparations. The Summit will be a strategically important step towards creating the most favorable conditions for the development of trade and economic relations, and the diversification of forms and directions of Russian-African cooperation. In his speech at the meeting, the Krasnodar governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that "Sochi has repeatedly demonstrated its full commitment to major international events. Bogdanov informed the meeting that a large package of agreements on trade, economic and investment spheres, as well as a number of other multilateral instruments that are expected to be signed at the summit. The outcome of the meeting in Sochi will be a declaration of the first summit of the Russia-Africa, to ensure a long-term partnership.
